We’ve not along finished renovating Michelle and Steven’s kitchen and dining rooms.
The brief – Contemporary with a splash of art deco! Black, white and sage green.
This Striking Red Hill Kitchen Design Features:
- Galley layout.
- Large Island Bench, with a Caesarstone Benchtop and waterfall end. Empira White, 60mm thickness.
- Integrated Appliances – fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and bin unit.
- Black Stone splashback.
- Black Granite double sink.
- Black Arch Handles from Lo&Co.
The Choice of Cabinetry Finish Includes:
- Absolute Matte Black Laminex Cabinetry panels – kitchen
- Absolute Matte Polar White Laminex Cabinetry panels – storage/freezer and study nook area.
- A touch of sage green with the use of Spinifex Natural Finish Laminex Cabinetry panels and Island Seating Area panels.
- A combination of handle types including finger pull overheads, push release drawers and handles.
You may be thinking, ‘Gosh, those clients are brave putting in black cabinetry. They’ll show every finger-print.’ But the beauty of Laminex’s range of Absolute Matte finishes is that they a premium, super-matte finish, tactile and finger-print resistant.
The Design Concept
Michelle wanted a modern, seamless kitchen design. Contemporary. What is contemporary style? It’s defined by simplicity, subtle sophistication and deliberate use of texture and fine lines. I noticed her home had an art deco style. Art deco designs are sleek, linear, often rectangular geometric forms, arranged and broken up by curved ornamental elements, which can be seen by way of the choice of pendants and arch handles. Michelle’s ‘must have item’ on her wish list was the Empira White Caesarstone.
A Balanced, Harmonious Space
Look at the before and afters. To improve the layout, we undertook spatial planning, moving the location of the kitchen to the back of the open plan area closest to the outdoor deck. The dining room became centred in this space, and where the existing kitchen was located, we positioned the integrated freezer, storage area and integrated study nook.
The use of sage green is becoming an increasingly popular choice in interior design. In this space, it softens the black and white colour palette.

Visualising the Design Concept
We undertook the exercise of creating 3D renders for this Brisbane Kitchen Renovation. This design task helped our clients visualise the aesthetic and layout of their new kitchen and dining area. 3D renders help define the design style and provides clients with the opportunity to review and confirm their design selections. Seeing how all elements are working in conjunction with one another.

Another Happy Client
“Working with Jade on our kitchen and dining room renovation was great. She took my jumbled ideas and inspiration and transformed them into a beautifully cohesive design. Her advice on selection of design elements was invaluable, and she was more than happy to help resolve any issues that arose during the build. The 3D renders of the design were brilliant and really helped us visualise the end result. The end result is an amazing new kitchen and dining space that we love. Will happily work with Jade again in the future.” Michelle.
