Luxury, Resort Style Ensuite Design

“I LOVE IT!” The words that came out of Erica’s mouth after Simon and I completed her Ensuite Renovation. “It’s so tranquil.”

This luxurious Moggill Ensuite Renovation is a gorgeous, fresh and adventurous design.

Take a look at the photos and you can see why!

The Mediterranean Sea Inspired Feature Wall

Erica and Adrian were unsure about how they wanted their Ensuite to LOOK. But they knew how they wanted the space to FEEL.

  • Tranquil.
  • Luxurious.
  • Relaxing.
  • Calming.
  • Spacious.
  • Resort vibes.

My mind went straight to The Mediterranean Sea.

  • The calming, turquoise ocean.
  • Green, blue and aqua hues.
  • The sound of waves and pebble beaches.
  • Tranquillity and relaxation.
  • The fantasy that mermaids might exist. 😉

As empty nesters, this meant they had a generous renovation budget and could make some premium selections.

Renovation Mood Board

Familiar with the range at Beaumont Tiles. I had the Babylon Fan Teal Crackle Mix Gloss tile from Beaumont Tiles in mind. This tile would become the star of the show. I presented a Mood Board; displaying how a colorful, bold tile could work as a focal point in their Ensuite space. And how the other proposed design selections can complement it.

We were thrilled that Erica and Adrian had the confidence to use colour, with ease and delight. Some clients like to play it safe with colour.

My advice is colour can be beautiful. It can be engaging!

There is an inescapable emotional aspect to colour. There are no bad colours, only bad colour combinations.

The hardest part for me was choosing tiles and colours for my remodel, so that’s where Jade (Simon’s wife) came in (She’s Got Style Interior Design). She has a fresh approach to style and has fantastic ideas. Making the most of a small space was my top priority and minimalism in that space. She listened and produced the goods
I love it!!” – Erica, from Moggill

Mermaid Tails

First, you see the vibrant colours of the feature wall. Then, you see the form. The shape of the tiles. Use your imagination, and, like me, you may see mermaid tails or swirling waves. These mosaics are known as both fish scale or concave tiles.

We didn’t want the grout to be a feature, so we didn’t use white grout. Instead, a light grey grout. If you’re interested in using fish scale tiles just an FYI, they’re a more expensive tile choice (sold in sheets). There is also additional labour time and grout involved.

The Interaction of Light and Colour

Without light, there is no colour. With an already large, frosted window at one end of the room, Simon added a skylight at the other end above the shower. Without the skylight, the room wouldn’t appear as light and bright as it does. Nor would the feature wall look as lively without the inclusion of this skylight and updated LED lights.

The Other Things we LOVE about this design:

  • Ultra-Clear shower glass.
  • White Gloss custom-made vanity. Coleman Cabinets
  • Brushed Nickel tapware, fixtures, and fittings. ABI Interiors
  • Large, open doorway through to the master bedroom.
  • Alphine Mist Caesarstone benchtop and shower bench.
  • In-wall toilet system.
  • Heated towel rails.
  • Real, fresh palm leaves give a holiday feel.

Getting More than One Opinion

Erica and Adrian had received other quotes from builders. Yet, they were not confident in moving forward with the renovation until they met us. They’d previously been told some of their wish list items around layout and functionality couldn’t be done. However, Simon’s honest advice and willingness to find a solution meant they could achieve their renovation goals.

If you’d like help with designing your dream Bathroom or Ensuite, send Simon and I a message. We will get in touch. In the meantime, why not enter our competition.
