Frequently Asked Questions
We often get asked similar questions about the bathroom, interior and exterior renovations we do in Brisbane. Including our experience and the processes we follow. Here are the answers to the common questions we’re asked. If you have another question, please get in touch.
What Workmanship Guarantees do you provide?
All of our renovations and repairs are performed by licensed tradesmen and our workmanship complies with Australian building codes and QBCC requirements.
Avocado Constructions will provide a 7 year guarantee on bathroom renovations.
We pride ourselves on ensuring all clients are extremely happy with our workmanship and the outcome of the renovation or repairs. If at any point you are not (even post renovation) we encourage clients to contact us ASAP and we will happily come meet and discuss any concerns.
Will the Agreed Contract Price Change?
The amount you pay is the agreed amount in the contract, unless variations or additional work (outside the scope of the quote) is required or requested. In which case, prior to commencing the additional work we will have a discussion; ensuring you’re satisfied with the overall outcome. We do however absorb some additional costs for smaller items.
How Much Does it Cost to Renovate a Bathroom?
The cost of a bathroom renovation depends on several factors. Things that will be taken into consideration will include:
- whether there are structural changes
- the type and quality of accessories and finishes you wish to select
- if plumbing needs to be installed or plumbing fixtures moved
- whether you be supplying your own tiles and finishes, or if you would prefer a fully inclusive package
- whether you’d like to take care of aspects of the renovation yourself, such as demolition or painting.
These are just some of the many factors to be considered. On average, a complete bathroom renovation usually costs between $12,000 and $35,000. Using our expertise, we can offer recommendations that take into consideration your budget.

Do I Have to be Home During the Renovations?
It’s entirely up to you if you wish to be there or not.
We can carry out the renovations without you being at your home; if the design has been finalised and items such as tiles, colours and tapware etc have been selected and agreed upon. Some people prefer to be away while the renovation takes place, such as staying with family. Some clients even see this time as an opportunity to take a holiday.
We ask that you are accessible via phone or email to ensure we can communicate with you, if needed. Your home and your privacy will always be respected.
How Long will my Renovation or Repair Work Take?
Each renovation or repair job timeline differs, based on your requirements and size of the job. We will outline the timeline at the time we provide you with a quote.
We’re fully committed to start and finish dates.
How Long Does it Take to Renovate a Bathroom?
Every bathroom renovation differs based on the scope of the job, such as the size. However, most bathroom renovations take 2 to 3 weeks. We will outline the renovation timeline at the time we provide you with a quote.
We’re fully committed to start and finish dates.
Can you Renovate in Apartment Blocks/Townhouse Complexes?
Yes, we can! We understand the rules and regulations involved in working in various building complexes, strata and different councils and we adhere to their guidelines.
Our experience means we take into consideration the following:
- Body Corporate Requirements
- Noise Levels / Curfew
- Respect to Neighbouring Tenants
- Access for Trade Contractors and materials.
How Does the Bathroom Renovation Process Work?
Firstly, we’ll arrange a time to come visit, meet and view to the area you’re wanting to renovate or repair. We will discuss your requirements, take measurements etc.
Within 48 hours we will provide you with a quote and timeframe.
Once agreed, we then work together to select the accessories and fixtures. We can show your brochures to help with the selection process and offer our suggestions for design.
Then we begin on the tools!
The initial stage is the demolition and strip out, followed by electrical and plumbing. We then undertake waterproofing and then tiling. Afterwards, the final touches begin as the fixtures and bathroom accessories are installed and fitted.
Finally, we will have the renovation area professionally cleaned and the renovation ends with a quality assurance check. And, of course a very happy client!
Do you Supply Fixtures and Tiles?
Yes, we can incorporate these into our quote and supply. We will always take into consideration your design preferences and budget and consult with you in the selection process. We work closely with various industry suppliers who provide a wide range of choices, at a reasonable rate.
Can I Choose the Tiles and Accessories?
Absolutely – if this is your preference. It’s your home so your input is key! Whether you choose and purchase the items from our trusted suppliers or suppliers of your choice, we’ll be there to make recommendations and guide you along the way if you wish.
Are you Fully Licensed?
Yes, we are fully licensed with QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission) to carry out the work we quote for. All other works that fall outside the scope of our licence class, we use licenced contractors. For example – plumbing and electrical.
Do I Have to Cover my Belongings up or put Things Away?
We’ll lay down drop sheets and floor covers to protect your home and environment. We’ll take every care to contain the renovation area and the resulting debris. We do suggest packing away valuable or breakable items that may be in the traffic area, to ensure no damages. For example, a vase that sits on a table in the hallway which we need to walk past as we access the area of renovation/repairs.
Can we Still use the Toilet Once You Start?
No. Once the renovations begin, most of the area will be stripped and demolished rending it unusable. It is not advised to use the renovation area until we have fully completed the renovation.
Are you Fully Insured?
Yes! Avocado Constructions is fully insured for Public Liability and Accidental Damage.
Is It Cheaper to Renovate Two Bathrooms?
Absolutely! Not only will it save you money, but also significant time and hassle if your additional bathroom is renovated simultaneously.
